Mataura Cemetery

Description

The Mataura Cemetery is set over 4 hectares. The first recorded burial was on 10 July 1874. In 1877, the Mataura Bridge Cemetery was officially established. Five trustees oversaw burials and looked after it for the next 22 years. In 1898 the cemetery was handed over to the Mataura Borough Council.
